Life

Mervyn ‘James’ Phillip Donnelly
Our childhood steps by loved ones
In flowery ways were set
And memory lingers lovingly
Among those blossoms yet.

From child to youth and manhood
The time has quickly passed
We cannot think those years have gone
They’ve flown by so fast.

From middle age to old age
Is but the shortest hour
And those who knew the lovely bloom
Forget the withered flower.

Down the road of time we go
With footsteps firm and brave
Till death the grim destroyer reaps
And brings us to the grave.
